Microsoft will interview you but also 10 other people for a final round. Good luck, I have gotten to 7 final rounds so far with Microsoft and 2 low ball offers
what the interview process is:
You could have applied for anything between a janitor/secretary to data scientist. The interview process is different across groups. And MSFT is notorious for not having a standardized hiring process even within software development. Every department and group is essentially silo-ed.

This.
I’ve heard different interview processes by dept. HR plays an advisory role to ensure what we do makes sense and works with our recruiters.
1 week is not a long time
Just signed my contract with MSFT. The recruiter called me right after my interview with the hiring manager to share their interest. Took another week to make the final offer. I guess I was lucky in every regard and hit the right nail at the right time. I was directly approached by the recruiter and the position was not open on the job market. The final offer was very competitive.
Now, I have also applied another 3 times this year and didn’t get one invitation. Be patient and keep networking.
It was a long process for me, about 8-10 weeks from application to offer
Applied for Account Technology Strategist position. A week later, I still haven’t heard back from recruiter and it’s still in review.

Good luck- within one week you can very much be in contention.
Two pieces of advice;
1. Hit fresh postings whenever possible. Our postings get absolutely slammed with often non relevant resumes due to the ‘name brand’
2. Expectation wise, be comfortable putting 2-3 apps in a month without necessarily getting interviews. I got hired on application #8 and put similar numbers at other tech firms
I have had my final interview with the MS team and the recruiter said they were going to talk with the hiring manager and I haven’t heard back in almost a week. Is it a good sign or a bad sign?
I’m trying to keep my hopes high that I haven’t heard no yet, so thinking it is a good sign.
