Hi All,

I will be joining ARUP soon and their package specifies profit share bonus scheme with the bi annual bonus pay. One of my colleague worked in ARUP stated that they did not pay in the last few rounds. Anyone could share if they have been paid in November round?

Thanks in advance.
Regards, Nathan

Profit shares this November were a 1.5, which for me represented a ~2.5% bonus. This was a slow step up from 1.0 and back-to-back 0s preceding this profit shares.

As you commented on, profit shares are not guaranteed and depend on global performance, not just your office. And it was sold to me 5 years ago that it was basically a guaranteed 10% bonus on salary over the course of a year, with just a bit of variation. That has not bore out over the last 18-24 months.

As it is, I (and my office) is busy, and the lackluster profit shares don’t line up with the effort and output. On the flip side, if your office wasn’t doing well, it’s a safety net. Pick what you are ok with here - if you need to profit share to be ok with the salary, it probably isn’t enough to begin with.

The other benefits make up for it - at least here in Americas, 10% match to 401k is a significant boost and rounds out the “total compensation”.

I used to work at Arup. The profit share payments are not guaranteed. In my first four years, I received profit share twice a year and it was good. But in my last year there, profit share was very poor or 0. I heard it was very poor in June this year - about 1%. I'm not sure if there was a profit share payment this November though.

which region are u in?

Should I accept it? Or would leaving EY that early not be wise?
