Hi everyone, I need some advice. My boss is asking me—nobody else in the company—to submit a tracker of all my work that I do. They say it’s not performance based but I’m a little concerned and feel very singled out because I am more reserved than other in the company. Any advice ?

Hi , I am in a similar situation currently . My manager and I have not had the best relationship. I’ve been treated horrible and went to my director to ask him to stop treating me so aggressively / rude . Director did nothing but asked if I would forgive him and he promised to never be aggressive / rude to me again. Well that hasn’t changed and I do give them both a list of tasks I do and when I do them so if they ever question my work schedule and how I do things they refer them back to my list / chart . Still not enough for them . I am almost going to hit two years and I’ve worked 6 days a week and work overtime week in and week out . My second evaluation just happens recently and I made sure to state that I give my all and put everything into this job they came back with pointing all my mistakes and basically said I am improving because of another coworker……. Still no talk about a raise either …… I’m miserable here and I feel so unappreciated and stressed out .

Point is. Run!!

likesmart

yes RUN! Start looking for a new job a toxic work environment can lead to medical issues and more. You are worth more than the stress they are putting you through. Fix that resume and start looking!

That doesn’t look good, sorry. What do they say it is for? What is the purpose / scope? You can propose alternative solutions to them matching their goals but reducing the amount of work for you (weekly check-in, One Pager etc). Hope you find a good solution!

They say it is because I am reserved/shy. I communicate with them frequently the job is remote so it’s a bit harder communications wise but they want to make sure I have enough work…they are very disorganized and never trained me so I’m not sure what all these moving pieces mean for my future but it’s concerning.

Got braids. You'd think I literally got a face transplant from how shook my coworkers are. I would say over 10 people have stopped me to ask about them or comment on them and I've been at work for maybe 2 1/2 hours. It's all been positive, but am I wrong for still finding it annoying? They don't lose their minds when Sarah gets bangs or whatever so I wish they could keep that same energy.

I am seriously worried. I am doing my co-op and my supervisor is not giving me an easy time. I am trying to do my best even with very little direction and this supervisor constantly harassing my about things like her not being able to use google meet or to remember passwords. I feel bullied and very anxious. I am afraid she can jeopardize my visa with a bad evaluation. I have been working at midnight, on Sunday mornings but I am human, I make mistakes, she just blames me instead of teaching.

How big of a red flag is it that a company doesn’t have a marketing strategy/plan in place? I’ve been asking for this from my director but alway get some type of an excuse so I’m starting to believe there isn’t one. We are a company with over 200+ employees and 4+ locations

Anyone deal with this before: I inherited a severely under developed team including a sr analyst who clearly was doing the bare minimum, if that. Over the last 6 months I have had to coach him and correct simple mistakes in his work and recently it got so bad that I told him he would receive a low rating in his evaluation. He lashed out, involved HR saying he doesn’t understand why, and now my review points out stuff that I would have let slide.

What are some good books to read if I want to learn how to better show up for the team as a manager?

Hi all, looking for advice.

I'm a technical writer with background in the hardware and healthcare industry. What would be a better option for me, pivoting into software tech writing or project management.

Which one pays better/is better (any advice appreciated, must be fully remote role)

If software tech writing, does anyone have advice on how to break into a role or learn what it takes to become one?

For PM, I got a cert (not PMP) and am trying to decide which of these two I go with.
