I have two years of automotive/aerospace manufacturing experience and am looking for new opportunities. I recently applied to a Solution Engineer - Commercial Manufacturing, Automotive, Energy (MAE) role at Salesforce, and it sounds like a great fit. Is anyone willing to offer me a referral or advice on how to move forward in the hiring process? Salesforce

Many of the skills as a Sales Engineer are transferable to other jobs, especially ones in tech with customer engagement. Some skills I found invaluable:
- foundational understanding of JavaScript
- understanding of SOAP/REST APIs are vital
- understanding the customer workflow/problem at hand and being able to translate their definition of their problem to what the software you’re selling is capable of
- how internal ticket systems work with the software engineers - how can you leverage new enhancements to sell existing opportunities - how long will it take to make a new feature to be available to make the workflow make sense
- being excellent at demos comes with the job and being able to create a Proof of Concept (POC) is very important to get the pipeline moving
- RFPs/RFIs and how to write them/interpret them for large scale sales opportunities
I’m more specifically looking at Sales Engineering and related roles.
