Hi everyone, quick what would you do? I am being offered a job that’s about 40 mins away from home at $26/hr and a job that’s remote (from home) at $22/hr. Same benefits for both. Which one would you pick? I’m thinking remote.

I am definitely picking the remote one, I love the comfortability that comes from working from home.

like

Pick the remote one. You will be much happier for it.

like

Remote for sure!

like

Ummmmmm the remote one. $4 more will get eaten up by high gas prices and you don't have to leave the house and drive 40 mins. No brainer.

like

The remote one - just make sure you go for breaks and don't make late working a regular occurrence, or it won't be worth the salary. Remember to keep your health a priority!

like

The $4/hr will be quickly eaten up in commuting, bfast/lunch costs, clothing maintenance, inconvenience & all those incidentals that come with leaving the house. Remote work can be lonely tho. Depending on ur personality it may be worth it to commute & be in a space with other people….NGL, I love 💕 remote

Remote will give you much more peace of mind.

Depends on if you prefer staying at home or being out and interacting moreso

So an extra $32 a day for an 80 minute total drive? Hell no. You might even spend more on gas than the extra $4/hr.

like

Remote !

like

Take the £22/hr, it will take time to get to and back to the job, plus, you will be constantly living with the bull that is corporate crap. Trust me, I know

like

It's funny. I thought everyone would prefer remote work, but I have several coworkers who insist on being in the office, every day. Even when the pandemic had us all working from home, these guys came into the office, every single day, (honestly, to hear them complain about their wives, I guess that is their motivation).

It is really based on how you prefer to work. If you're happy working from home, I'd go that route. If you just gotta get out of the house, in order to focus, take that option. I do think it's great that you have choices for this.

like

Thank you everyone!

Absolutely, remote!!! You will save more than $4/hr by not going into the office and the difference will be won in WLB.

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

Anyone from Embark able to tell me about some benefits you have. Like how long is Paternity leave and do you have to be with the firm for a year to use it? Also what health insurance do you have? I saw that Embark fully pays premiums but if it’s a junk insurance company then that’s not so great haha.
Also how often are you traveling / in office? Thanks!

For me a typical day looks like this
9 am- sign in and check emails
930-11 : look for a new job
11-2 lunch and nap
2-3 : sometimes meetings, mostly begging people for billable work
3-4:30 - proposal work if I have it or more job hunting
5-9pm family time and dinner
10-3am - netflix, videogames, cry myself to sleep
