We put our kids at that age into a Montessori school’s toddler program for the same reasons. Much cheaper than daycare.
I mean… half of their genes are from your wife… so they’ve got that hill to climb
Rising Star
Our 2 yr old is in daycare now and debating about pulling her. Would basically do half day of preschool then half day of Mom time. We don’t want to lose all the social skills she has built up and like the variety it provides. Plus my wife agrees that a full day of care will be hard whereas a half day allows for more energy to bring the fun and planned activities.
We are also looking into lesson planning so she has support to follow some sort of “curriculum” and doesn’t have to make things up on her own all the time.
Crazy how expensive that is! My wife is just a better mom if they go to daycare for half day. Like I love my kids but there is no way I could spend every waking moment with them. We have a 4 and 1 year old. Right now 4 year old goes half day 5 days a week and we plan to send the 1 year old when she gets closer to 2. It has been really good for my 4 year old - both socially and she learns way more than what I could do at home.
Are they both potty trained?
For the 3 year old, preschool is great, 2 year old not so sure.
While my wife does invest energy in interacting with them meaningfully in chunks, I’d think that a daycare would be far worse. They have 8-10 kids to watch and they make minimum wage.
