Hi folks,

I am 32 M, unmarried and I have been investing for 4 years now. I have been strictly investing 50k every month altogether in MF, NPS, PO. I have a running health and term insurances of 2 crore each.

My question is that with the same investment routine, can one actually plan to retire early , say before 45. Am I going in the right direction?

Any suggestions or guidance from someone who has achieved their financial goals while working 9-7 would really help a lot of us .

Hii. Wow! That’s amazing. Most people would not be able to do this diligently for a long duration.

Considering you would, your biggest potential enemy would be lifestyle inflation. If you are able to battle that, building a corpus of around 3-4 Cr and building an overall portfolio that beats the market return (say around 12-13%) by a around 4-5%, (Getting a net CAGR of around 17-18%) should help you retire early.

Try building on different stages in your investing journey. Explore into PMS as well. I believe it might be able to provide extra returns as compared to just mutual funds. And make sure that you have a safety net built for around 6 months. Once you get to say around 5 Cr, start exploring into startups as an angel investor as well. But just a small amount.

I believe you are doing very well and your retirement plans will come down to your future plans and how you wish to lead your life and pursue the goals.

How much percentage of your salary do you invest in mutual funds? Asking for my personal investment plan.

20-25 percent of in hand salary in mutual funds (ELSS , small cap , mid cap , flexi)
10 percent in insurances
10-15 percent in NPS/RD
15 percent on car EMI( gonna foreclose it in next 1.5-2 years)
10 percent transfer to my mothers account

Sometimes I do buy stocks , like 30-40k every few months and hold on to it.

Whatever I save , I spend it on buying something of gold.

You are doing really well but retirement is a separate story. I'll need many more details to answer that. Assuming a 14% CAGR, you'll have close to 4 crores at the age of 45. Now this is a future value. Assuming 4% inflation, 4 crore rupees 13 years from now is equivalent to 2.4 crore today. If you retire, you can withdraw ~15 lakh annually with 5% annual increment for the rest of your life. Now ask yourself this, if you get 15 lakh today annually, will you retire? At this point a lot of personal things come into play. All the best!

P.S. 14% CAGR assumption is on the higher side. Actual can be 10-11% depending on where you are investing. The idea was to show you that even after taking a good scenario, the outcome does not feel sufficient.

Thanks and All the best bro :)

Home reno financing question. Have a big project coming up in the $120-150k range. Funding sources are:
- 90k from a heloc around prime
- 10k from a credit card that offers promo checks at 2-3% for 12-18 months
- 375k in a brokerage
- 5-6k per month cash that I can put towards the project, loans, or brokerage

I don't want to stop funding the brokerage because my FIRE plan is less numbers based than "hoard like dragon until it's enough" but maybe I should... How would you optimize?

Hi fishes,
I'm 22 and planning to take a life insurance. I'm comparing all policies and max life seems attractive as it has good claim settlement ratio and less premiums. But there is no office near our area. My worry is that if there is a need to claim in future, it can be done all online by my nominee? Is it recommended to take policy online in any platform(like policybazaar)?
Other options I'm considering are SBI life, HDFC life which offices are available in my locality.
