I think most places in MA are quite good in terms of schools especially some of the best ones being Weston, Andover, Lincoln and Westwood
Perfectly valid points.
Your biggest expense will be your home. I don't think you'll pay anything for public school. Do you own a home now or rent? Like EY1 asked what is your budget? You need to know how much house you can comfortably afford. Keyword is comfortably, meaning dont be house poor. Just figure out how much you want to spend on mortgage, tax, insurance per month and go from there. There are online calculators that can help.
Thank you PWC1 and EY1. I think we can afford to pay $55k-$60k a year in home related expenses. We currently rent and we spend close to $3500 a month on rent, electricity etc. We should be able to go to $5000 a month. If we put 20% down, we should be able to afford a house close to $1M. Let me know if this back of the napkin calculation makes sense. Having said this, any guidance on how much you spend for education per year would be super helpful and any recommendations for locations with good public schools or half decent locations with a good private school nearby would be very helpful. Thanks again!

On top of what PwC1 mentioned add 2-5% of your home value annually for maintenance.

consider Sharon ..towards South...Its a top notch school district may be a little expensive due to good schools and environment. nearby Foxboro is also very good and peaceful. schools are great and rents cheap. The only thing is it is primarily Irish / white so if you are too much into diversity it may be monotonous...I lived there for a long time and found it very good....dont go further south..avoid Attleboro..and all bordering RI areas..
Thank you D1!

I would start with - whats my budget and which suburbs fall within it.
Thanks EY1. I am not sure of the budget yet. I am curious about the yearly spend on this. Maybe that will help me orient better on the budget.
