Hosting extended family this weekend. How do you explain your job to your family?

Anyone else struggling to make meaningful friendships in b school? It’s only been two weeks but I’m struggling to go beyond superficial talk with anyone

Anyone else have a great work mom? Work wives/husbands are great but work moms are the REAL deal. They're stern when they need to be but want what's best for you.

My relationship just ended yesterday because he wanted to “focus on myself and figure things out.” My relationship before that ended (~2 years ago) because he wanted to focus on himself. I can’t help but feel like it’s because something is wrong with me. What am I doing wrong?

I really want to move out of my parents place for social reasons etc. I still hangout with friends a lot but it’s just a hassle having to drive a hour or so to kick it with them. So my dilemma is I enjoy saving $ on rent (yes I know can’t have both) but the main reason for me moving back home is so that I can save and buy a house. On the flip side with how expensive houses are right now it’s hard to even buy. I’m in CA btw SoCal. If anyone has any suggestion of places to live for a 26 YO TIA!

I think I want to be in relationship, but I fear that I actually am just lonely and not actually ready for relationship.
I desperatly want someone that I can spend time with, laugh with, and tell good news to amongst so much else.
I don't know what to do or if anything can be done...

A relative is raising a teenage son with her ex-husband. They have joint physical custody. The ex-husband has re-married. When the son is in his care, he often leaves the son at home in California with his (new) wife when he travels for work (which is often). The relative wants her ex-husband to leave their son in her care when he travels out of town but the ex-husband disagrees. The relative wants to know her chances of prevailing if she were to appear in court on this issue. Thoughts? Thanks!

This question may not be related. However I wanted to know from personal and family point of view how it is like to relocate from India and live abroad .
Let's say Family consists of husband , wife and a kid . I understand we will get good facilities, education, cleanliness , good air etc , however I wanted to check whether people gel up easily in the new environment? Don't they feel loneliness/ difficult to adjust? Do they look for similar asian nationalities to kill boredom?

How do you engage with friends who constantly complain about the same problems at work and dismiss any potential solutions?

Anyone here adopt a puppy during the infertility struggle? Husband and I considering it to have something positive throughout this situation and thinking the extra companionship would be helpful. I work from home. Husband has had many family dogs and lots of experience with it, I’ve had a family cat before. But not sure if it’s actually a good idea - wondering if it would truly help make us feel better and keep our minds off of the struggles or if it would just add extra stress. Thoughts?

Feeling a deep void in close human connection after letting go a relationship that was lacking a future (I was interested in something more, he was unsure). Can’t stop thinking of reaching out and need strength to just stay with the loneliness and have hope for the better times. Would appreciate support. Salam. 23M here - all my life I’ve had my back on our faith - never really prayed but had imaan (I guess). After bouts of depression from girl problems (🙄), issues within immediate family, being disappointed expectations I had for myself, etc. I’ve been working on bettering my situation over the years. Faith is the only area where I think I need more guidance. Having trouble relating to friends or family about this. Anyone else been thru something similar? How have you connected back to Islam?

My friend’s ex is trying to win her back and she hates being single and like I ~should~ discourage this, but on a selfish level I want to be able to go out on his boat again this summer. He’s not a particularly horrible guy, but they’re a bad match when it comes to values/goals, which is why it didn’t work out the last time.

I'm a product engineer and it's hard to turn off work mode at the end of the day, I think of how products *should* be packaged when I'm shopping and can't understand why my wife doesn't care 🤷

I’m not naive or fresh out of law school, but I’m at a point where I’m saying to myself “Why can’t I have it all?” I’ve been offered a job for more pay and less hours and I keep thinking to myself, what’s the catch? I know people will say no promotion potential or that’s not how it works…but what if it could? What if you make yourself valuable by still setting your boundaries? Why would we resent someone who has that opportunity?

I'm going for a role for Account Director and have gone through the interviews with the head of accounts, BD as well as the ECD's. I received the following email at the end of the day:

"You are one of two candidates in the final round.

One thing we haven’t spoken about are your salary expectations. Could you have a think and let me know early next week as well as your employment status (residency permit)."

What would be the best way to answer this response? Appreciate the help
