Do the job of the person above you so they're not working as hard! Similar as never say no but a bit more tactical imo
Take up activities / pieces that others are reluctant to pick up due to various reasons - tough client, less fancy content, bad travel, etc. Soon you will have creds not just for faster promotions, but also get more say in planning your staffing.

Tbh, I just want to stay in my position forever if possible (Specialist in a practice). Look at my EM and ED schedule, I don’t think I want to have that lifestyle, but we’re still in the up or out scheme so will be forced to JEM a study soon …
I would say optimize. Focus on the following-
1) feedback
2) raising you voice and getting noticed
3) getting the things done
Helps if you have family in the firm ;)

Just do your job well. I was promoted twice back to back. Just did my job well across dimensions. Also had a good evaluator
Just pick the stuff you are good at. Make sure you have high visibility and facetime with senior partners
