Just need to know someone. Its a breeze getting into tax
Prob easier to get into as an experienced hire, especially from another B4. I was a 3.2 gpa student with a measly bachelors from a low-mid tier? School and got it in with no problems. I was also referred by a friend 😂. Remember it’s who you know not what you know.
We are harder to get into than Harvard lol
Came to the comments to look for this post, lol
2.9 is impossible for a graduate to get into a big four with no work experience, referral will not help you. Try Moss Adams and the like. Or get your masters with a good GPA.
Do you have relevant experience? Is your college one where Deloitte recruits from? If the answer is no to both, I’d think it be pretty hard to get into a big4 unless you know someone
Get a referral. Also there is a huge labor shortage in PE/IM in tax - likely to get in with referral & work exp if ur in tax
If you have strong internships and referrals you can still have a chance
I got a 2.5 gpa in college so had to start out at a small accounting firm but moved to b4 after a year and now in ib. It takes time but might just have to grind a little more than your peers
Maybe go to a grad school deloitte recruits from - get that gpa up or maybe go to midsize smaller firm rack up some experience
Don’t give up on the goal
I had working at Deloitte as a goal. Finally I’m being recruited by them :)
Hang in there , keep at it
Depends on what you want to do and who you know that can make a referral. With a 2.9 gpa you’ll have hard time getting by the initial recruiter wall if you’re only a year or two out of school
had my degree overseas and had revelant experience although from a VERY small firm and I was able to get in as an Experienced Hire at Deloitte. I was referred. Happy to refer you to Deloitte if interested.
As a college hire it will be difficult to get into any big 4 with that gpa. Will be much easier if you go to a mid-size for a year 1st and come in as an experienced hire.
Still possible to get in with the shortage of audit/tax staff
Agree
Pro
Are you CPA eligible? Meaning have 150 credit hours and enough accounting credits? If not I know at Kpmg that is a non starter for audit and tax and I would imagine the other B4 are the same way.
Not yet. I finished my bachelors mod pandemic and didn’t want to do virtual classes because of my bad experience. I am looking to go back for my MBA this fall
You should try to apply anyway. A GPA is not a make or break situation when it comes to applying for jobs
University hires are difficult, you’ll generally need a high gpa and hit all the checkboxes.
Deloitte is pretty hard I will say, but shoot for the stars why not just apply and see what happens
My undergrad GPA is around 2.6 but i started with EY. My undergraduate major was Chemistry, and I was in the middle of my master in accounting program when i got the offers from Big 4, and I graduated with 3.9 gpa though. Maybe slightly different story but you would never know how everything will unfold but the biggest hurdle would be the first screening because it’s usually GPA that they use to weed out.
You got in with your masters GPA, it override your bachelor’s GPA.
Pretty hard since the software has a cutoff point (3.2 I believe)
Go to recruiting events, if you impress one of the manager/partner, rhey will pass your resume to HR.
Alternatively, work for a small firm for a few years then no one cares about your GPA anymore.
