Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

I don’t think you job hopped like crazy tbh
Agreed
I have an employment gap > 1 year and resigned from IA to heal from burnout (probably long overdue after 6 busy seasons) and now feel healthy again (did tons of cardio/biking and my sleep/heart health is great) and want to pursue a Financial analyst role. How difficult would this transition be? Reasons for pursing FA: I like strategy, being a value add, analysis, excel/sql, have never done financial modeling but seems pretty easy from online courses, and am also very confident with presenting to clients/executives. Also my personality is more intuitive and forward looking/big picture guy. I liked auditing/clients but can’t see myself being an accountant bc I expect I won’t feel stimulated and will get burnt out by JEs/month end close.
I’ve moved jobs roughly every 18 months to two years, and I’ve never been hindered. However, you should be aware of what a financial analyst's role is. I’m in a BU FP&A position now as a senior financial analyst. I do management accounting. I help with budgeting and forecasting for the AOP, quarter updates, and monthly reporting. Sure, there are things you need to know about key drivers and the business that makes you a good analyst. But I do not touch SQL. I don’t do financial modeling. To find this job, you need to go to smaller companies, and most financial analysts aren’t performing this work. Higher levels get higher work. So you’ll need to be patient to get promoted into those roles. Again, you can find those roles - especially in Tech - but I wouldn’t say that’s the norm.

Going to be difficult... but maybe possible at a lower level. None of the experience aligns with FP&A, you job hopped like crazy, and you have a decent gap. All works against you here.
I would work on learning financial modeling and networking hard. I work in FP&A and I'd be wanting to hear a good story on why you'd be a fit.
