My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

Work harder at applying to another company.
Your expectations didn’t seem to be out of line; especially if you led an engagement, sold some work and have been on that grade for 3 years
Were you given specific areas you need to improve upon in order to earn the promotion? “Work harder” is a poor strategy without knowing what the reasons were for not promoting you. Your leadership owes you clear development needs.
Yes more business development leadership. I imagine I need to invest more time in RFI/RFP responses, but with a kid on the way soon, I haven’t thought through how my schedule would allow for this.

I got passed over for promotion when I first thought I was ready - at 3 separate stages before partner. Each time it pissed me off, and each time I ended up making huge progressions in an area where I wasn’t originally ready. You could pick up and leave if you think you’re being unfairly judged, but for me, each time that happened was a real growing experience.
You need to make sure the narrative is clear, and that you have advocates banging the table for you when it’s time - but if you can look at yourself and say “this is what I need to do more of, even if it scares me” - this can be a big opportunity for you.

Paragraph #1: you definitely can, especially if you’re not getting the mentoring you need
Paragraph #2: I would focus less about where your case is lacking, and more on the help you’d love to get as you push yourself on those skills. It sounds like it’s the same thing, but the first asks them to define where you’re coming up short, while the second invites them to help you develop your ambitions and impact to the firm.
If you’re a minority, you should be aware who you work for.
This is all despite exceeding both revenue and utilization targets, contributing to thought leadership AND doing a wide range of things around practice development and mentoring.
Frequent communication with your coach, engagement partners and talent leaders. You should hear confirmation of your promotion from all those people before you even go into the year end process.

Did you have clear conversations regarding SC>M promo expectations with your coach/counselor?
Knowing nothing about your situation beyond what you listed, one thing that stands out is that you implied you didn't sell any work this PY. How were your performance ratings? Those two are often enough to delay a promo,, even if all the other boxes are checked.
Yes I had clear conversations with my coach/counselor about expectations. To be honest, he just kept telling me I was doing the right things and suggested I was doing more than he was (manager) for the practice. He doesn’t seem to have much clout in the practice btw.
Performance ratings were average to above average. To my detriment, I didn’t necessarily explicitly sell myself to my feedback providers since I expected my work to do exactly that.

Your coaches should tell you why you didn’t make it. If they can’t, you should leave.
No, leave
