I know the only reason HR has exit interviews is to determine the likelihood a former employee is going to sue. And that is not my case at all.
The only thing I want from my exit interview is understanding when my benefits end and how my vacation will be paid out. Other than that I could not care less
Edit: I just read the "pre exit interview" written questionnaire and there is literally a question "have you obtained a new job? If so would you be willing to tell us the following? Employers name, position, compensation and benefits."
Name and position sure but compensation feels like an invasive question
I have done lots of exit interviews, and all I tell them is nothing bad against the current company and I simply find a different opportunity that fits my career goal better. You dont need to go into the details and dont need to tell HR the new company. You are not lying, but omiting information they dont need to know.
I say be honest but tactfully and professionally.
