The best way is to address why they are unhappy. Are they overworked? Underpaid? Not appreciated?

Well are you being the leader they need? Support when it's needed? Checking in? That goes a long way. Are they under compensated? Overworked? Times have changed people are not going to deal with what they used to pre covid. Are you adjusting your management style along with the times?

Rather than "dealing", it would be good to dig deeper. If you don't attack the root of the problem (overwork, low wages, exploitation...) it will become a major inconvenience for you and the whole company.

The most direct way to improve morale is with bonuses, but if you want to go beyond that, I recommend you invite your employees to lunch, release some stress and turn the place into a perfect place to work.

The biggest question is why they are unhappy. Sometimes it's not what you might expect at first... if you ask someone it is likely they will just give you a pat answer because people ask "what's wrong" all the time but aren't really interested in learning how the person is feeling. My secret weapon (if you can call it that) is touching base with them several times a day so that I can get to know them a bit more. If you take the time, most people will open up even when they might seem standoffish at first.

Talk to your team and be willing to hear them out. You're probably making some mistakes, and you have to be ready to accept them and adjust accordingly.

You can probably try some band-aid solutions like giving them a bonus or some token of appreciation but if there's deep-set discontent among the ranks there's probably some core need that is not being met. Drop the ego, talk to your people, and be the leader you're supposed to be for them

The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

We have a very broken product process. Our commercial team creates the “strategy” and prioritizes customer problems. But they always want to define the how, when, and product is the executor. What is your current process of commercial providing a customer problem and what are the steps to turn it into a feature?

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. With 9 years of supply chain experience, I am not sure why I would not be able to at least get an interview for entry level roles that require no experience.
