How do you deal with vacation guilt? I find myself feeling ashamed having to remind folks in meetings that I’ll be unavailable for X amount of time. Just me?

No way! When I’m gone I’m gone!

If your clients don’t understand that you too, take vacations then you need better clients lol

Seems like I'm an outlier, but I feel more guilty not taking vacations. I mean what the hell do I go to work for? To be able to afford to do the things I want to do, like vacationing

like

I check emails when I’m on vacation by habit but don’t feel bad for taking vacations. Live life!

YOU. ARE. REPLACEABLE. And I don’t mean that in the sense that you don’t bring value to your work or that you’re not an integral part of your team. I mean that - if you drop dead tomorrow, your current position will be filled by the company in a month.

Don’t feel guilty. They don’t feel guilty about having you at work. Ever. You spend more time at work than with your own family and friends on any given week. Take the time to replenish THOSE relationships that matter.

like

This seems like a non issues You MUST rejuvenate yourself from time to time In order to function at the level you need to
Why would anyone feel bad for enjoying yourself I work for me and my family not clients They take vacations - they will understand

like

With technology why do you feel “unavailable”?

like

I never turn on an out of office. I just make time to reply to all emails and leverage my support teams to do the work.

Nope. I feel guilty too

Remind yourself that time away from work refreshes you and makes you come back better able to do you job.

had my first vacation in ac decade this year that was not to the cabin or with extended family. felt guilty as hell planning it, but it was awesome and now it's going to be an annual thing. I'm a human with a life too.

I feel the same. I still go but feel the worst when I go somewhere nice

Self preservation is most important. When your body and/or mind needs a break, take it. It'll only improve your work and efficiency.

My company is adopting Scrum and hiring a bunch of agile coaches to assist with sprints. We got assigned our agile coach that'll be starting soon.

I read a description of what this role is supposed to be for and it sounds like they'll be leading Scrum ceremonies. So they run the planning meeting, the retrospective and daily stand ups. Up to now, I've been doing those and it's taken a total of like 2 hours a week of my time.

What on earth do agile coaches do with the other 95% of their time?

ADVISOR FUEL - BEWARE OF THEM

I've an extremely unpleasant experience with this company. We sent them a legal notice and my lawyer even lodged a compliant with the Florida Attorney General but in vein. These people don't bother about legal notices as they know most advisors don't have time and wherewithal to go to litigation.

Due to limitation of space I can't write in detail, but please contact me if you like to know my entire experience with ADVISOR FUEL. Don't fall prey to their tactics.
