How do you explain what you do to friends and family? I love hearing from my sister and brother in law what my niece tells people I do, apparently a few months ago she told people at school my job was "bossing a lot of people around at once and drawing maps." 🤣

That is hilarious! I've never asked my nieces and nephews what they think I do but I want to at Christmas now

Eventually, they will learn! Also, they say that if you can't explain something to a three-year-old, do you know what you are doing? Maybe say it with something your friends and family relate to.

Lol ironically that sounds about right. I might have to take that one from her.

My nieces and nephews honestly don't care about what I do as long as I have their gifts ready for them.

HAHAHAHA this made me laugh because this is exactly how mine are as well!

I tell my family especially younger cousins and nieces and nephews that I just make sure things are made and sold so that they and their parents can buy them lol

Awe thats so cute. My youngest used to tell everyone that his dad just sits in an office and plays on his computer all day (he is a tech director)

Haha. I never really try to explain much. I only do when they specifically ask for details.

That is hilarious! Hope she takes you to take your aunt to school day haha. Bossing people around is a great job description!

Is she wrong, though? That's basically it in a nutshell if you think hard enough lol. I'm gonna have to ask my nephew what he thinks I do for a living. If they ask, I'll just say I make things for them to gift other people on Christmas.

Well, that's one way to put it. Hahaha! Good thing for me, my position pretty much gives it away. I wonder how my other family members word it for my nephews and nieces. Lol.

Confession: The only in-law that I had a great relationship with passed away unexpectedly. The two remaining in-laws were on thin ice with me prior due to years of drama, nagging, and disgusting display of wealth. I believe their demand of money and general assholish behavior drove in law to his death. I love my S.O. but I can’t deal with the drama anymore.

I want to have a family and a future that is drama-free and full of love and don’t want to surround myself with negativity.

Been having trouble moving on since girlfriend ended relationship 3 weeks ago after 2+ years of dating. Before ending it she came over 3 weeks prior to basically give me a chance to work things out and we had a good discussion but then I went back into our routine and didn’t really fight for it or have serious follow up convos that we needed. Now I just have so many regrets that I let her go. I know we still love each other and left on “good” terms but can’t forgive myself for my lack of action.

Just found out that my favorite aunt, who claimed I was her “favorite” niece, chose to leave all her valuables to her other two nieces who never visited or called her once in the last ten years. My aunt passed away suffering from cancer last year and didn’t have her own kids. I was there by her side throughout her battle. I still wish I had done more, made her life easier. I probably sound petty, but a part of me is forcing me to re-evaluate every interaction I ever had with her.

$530k HHI, $250k cash on hand, $1.2M investments/retirement. Plan to buy $800-900k house as our first home, but thinking of the best approach given rates today. My thinking is that we (i) put $200k+ down and get a 5/1 ARM. (ii) put everything we save moving forward toward paying down the principal (after maximizing retirement accounts). Should be able to do $100k per year. (iii) If rates go down below 4.5ish % for 15 year fixed, refinance and stop aggressive payment. Thoughts on this approach?

UK market is open only for niche skillsets ( Data engineer + analytics). Firms aren't interested in sponsoring rest all skill sets, as they can be filled internally. They have limited quota every year, and are very choosy when it comes to allocation. Preference is first given to EU nationals and then Asians during shortlist stage.

Referral works, but the person who is referring you should have enough clout in the organization to present your profile!
