My therapist doesn’t take insurance. I think I know he’s the one for me because I’m literally never scared of being honest with him. I feel like I can say anything. I also feel like he understands me on a super deep level. I’m sure there are other things, but those things couldn’t be missing for me in our relationship.
Ah. Yeah. I’ve always struggled to open up to mine. Maybe cause he’s a man and I’m a woman. Or the aspect of not feeling safe to be vulnerable with his office smack in midtown. I’d like to find someone who takes insurance.
My therapist is a man and I’m a woman—and I think that dynamic works better for me. I knew that he would be right for me when he set boundaries at the start and made it all about the work. I know next to nothing about his life and this keeps it professional and about my mental health. It’s also the most honest relationship I’ve ever had and I’ve not felt the need to lie about an ounce of anything.
I think when you’ve realized you’re not moving forward anymore, then it’s time to switch. Try someone new for fresh techniques. It’s awkward but they’ll understand. I’ve moved a lot so I’m onto my third therapist now and I love her. Most of mine have taken insurance too! I’m paying $30 copay per session
Boston, but we’ve been meeting virtually. That’s odd though. Which search engines have you been using?
if you are not grappling with something that is more serious than you may want to think about trying a coach. most insurances do not cover it but some are starting to and you will save time not sitting on a couch for years....
