For those who moved from a client serving role to an internal role in public accounting while at a fairly high level (experienced manager or senior manager), did you take a pay cut or does your pay stay flat when you transition with minimal increases in subsequent years? Need advice. Interviewing for an internal role to lead a team adjacent to my current team. I’m trying to prepare for the interview, during which I’ll be asked to share my plan for the team. I’ve worked with two of the people on the team who will report to whomever gets this job. I’d like to ask them about the team and what they want/wish were different, but I’m not sure it’s wise to tell them I’m interviewing to be their boss. Not does it feel right to ask under false pretences. Thoughts?
