Hello! Question for anyone that works at Google if I have hit my 3 applications per 90 days can I still apply to an additional role through a referral link? Or will I have to wait until the 90 days is up? Actually asking for a friend that doesn’t have this app 😊 thanks in advance for any insight.

If I got blindsided with questions like that I'd find it pretty weird. Makes me wonder if your manager got some kind of training that suggested he should show some interest in his team. So he's asking inane questions from out of the blue. I always assume dumb things in the workplace are usually the result of some consultant training managers to be their most ridiculous selves.
That line of questioning is too close to, “are you happy here? Do you like your job? Do you feel like you fit?”
I hate that kind of question. I just had a discussion about that. I said that my cats, dog, donkey and horse don't have a motivation to their life or a reason to get up in the morning. They just live their lives (and comfortably under my care). And I am the most at peace when I am with them. It is existentialism. So I am an existentialist (like in the works of Albert Camus and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn). So tell whoever is asking that you are an existentialist and throw out the names of some existentialist authors to shut them up (bons points if you actually read some of their work before you answer with that, so you sound like you know what you're talking about if the person queries you about it further).
I've never gotten those questions outside of an interview either. When I do, I just spit out the usual cliches. "I want to give my kids a better childhood than I had." "I love working out and traveling."
Pretty easy for me, I have two small kids so I just use them. Not going to be any quiet quitting or randomly quitting my job to go find myself as I back pack around Europe for six months. I got mouths to feed and, down the road, colleges and weddings to pay for.
I have literally never had to answer a question like that outside of interviews lol. I don't think my supervisors or coworkers have ever tried to connect with me over stuff like that and I would also feel a little embarrassed to answer it. I think it's good to have answers to these questions for interviews though
The biggest issue I have with these questions is wanting to be sarcastic! But the person asking them isn’t going to enjoy that kind of response. I say something like my family, being able to work towards my goals everyday, that kind of thing. Good to have some generic things like that in your back pocket.
What gets me out of bed every morning? The satisfaction of a good night’s sleep.
They could have asked you that for many reasons but maybe it was a just wellness check.
Can you answer that for yourself? It doesn’t have to be a world changing passion. It could be as simple as visiting your niece, that new recipe you want to try, or your team’s next playoff game. Whatever it is, having something to look forward could make things interesting.
