How does one get into strategy / mgmt consulting without having an MBA? Are mgmt consulting jobs only reserved for MBA grads? I feel like I have great ideas that I could put forth and potentially do a good job as a mgmt consultant but I come from an accounting/tax technology background (CPA).. would I just never be relevant for a consulting role unless I got an MBA?

You could potentially join the finance consulting side with a CPA as an associate or analyst.

You need to just network hard and show that you are more than a CPA.

I left b4 to consulting to now S&O

If you can build a resume of how you’ve translated your strategy ideas to actual impact, you can probably make a case for it. Likely will start from a lower/ entry level depending on how many years of experience you already have as a cpa

80% of consultants at wll known firms got in from undergrad or business school. You could come in as an experienced hire, but switching industries like that will be more difficult. A few paths:
1. If you're already at an audit/tax/advisory firm, you could try to switch over from tax to advisory. But this is very difficult in practice.
2. Get a boutique or small consultancy to take a chance on you, then if you like consulting, attempt to go to a bigger or better firm.

Either way, you may need to leverage your background to shift slowly. Maybe use tax-related advisory as a stepping stone, or try to go to a CFO & enterprise value consulting role/team.

Please help! I left Audit at a midsize firm to join KPMG erp implementation consulting about 6 months ago. So far they seem to only want to staff me on projects with a heavy focus on technical accounting and audit. Spoke to a lot of others who have left and seems like being pigeonholed or staffed on projects not related to the actual core work of the practice is the common reason. I've been on the fence about whether I should stay and hope to be staffed on better projects in the future or leave soon...

Taking my shot in tech sales. Consulting was great experience but enjoyed the relationship and BD aspect more and didn’t see myself climbing to partner. Starting in a junior BD Rep role to learn prospecting and earn quota history. Took a big paycut for the potential future earnings as an Account Exec. Did I dun goof? Probably. But I’ll regret it forever if I didn’t take my chance now when I’m still single and young-ish.

Hi everyone,
I recently joined a small company as a tech lead in Pune.

I am not enjoying the work here. I have good experience in Linux application development in C. Also as a hobby project completed small projects on opencv/image processing on python.

I have a good hold in system design using python and C.

Looking for suggestions should I starting looking for another opportunity or should I wait for atleast completing 1 year to justify my change.

Graduated in 2020, wanted to be a graphic designer, took a job at a startup in a social media role. The boss called me the "r" word for not handling entire 13-ish accounts roster well by myself. I quit. Found a role as social media specialist. Realized (again) that I hate social media. Moved to in-house mktg manager, only to be a glorified graphic designer / someone to call the city to cut down trees. I job hopped too much, I feel my portfolio is empty. How do I restart again? I feel defeated.

A colleague told me today that Google separates Product Manager and Product Owner as two separate roles. I believe that one PM role is preferred in the industry and most modern software companies, especially FAANG companies, only have PMs. Just curious what others have experienced and if I'm correct in my assumption.
