Has anyone interviewed with Amazon in the last 6 months. I finished my loop for a finance role. It’s been 8 business days and no update from the recruiter. I mailed the recruiter who said apologies for the delay but we will get back to you with next steps. Has anyone had this experience and what was the outcome Amazon

If you have any interests I'd look into local online groups that align with those interests. It's hard to make friends when making friends is the goal, but it's (relatively) easy when it's incidental. I do affinity groups through work, volunteering is a good way to meet people, but I get that those things aren't necessarily everyone's cup of tea. I'd just start with your interests. Fairs, events, diy shows. They're a little bit difficult to find sometimes but they're out there.
I was going to give very similar advice.
I can't recommend volunteering enough. Find a cause or a group you support and give time. Connections will follow.
As a side bonus, some organizations can even certify your hours for the President's Volunteer Service Award from the White House for an annual award + the lifetime option so you can add it to your accomplishments if you are so inclined.
Informal hobby focused fb groups are the next best thing. Ive found luck in local outdoors groups in particular like hiking, kayaking, fishing, paddleboard, etc. There is an active disc golf league I know of that welcomes newcomers and gives instant community for casual and serious players. See also formal clubs like the Astronomy one mentioned previously or a hiking association for instance.
Final groups to check out are ones that align with your ideals/values, should you feel strongly about any. YMMV Read: faith, political, activism, etc
Go on meetup and find a group you click with

I am on the younger side but I've seen a variety of ages at Jax fray sports. Plus they're not all "sporty" sports which I like. I'd say meetup groups, rotary, if you're religious joining a group related to that, seeing if there's clubs or classes out there for your interests. For example I know there's a good sized astronomy club, they tend to skew older like parent ages and retirees.
I would recommended to join Facebook groups for new locals and attend events around town. Go where the people are at so they say and communicate to anyone you meet there you are looking to make friends and set plans!
