Open communication and education have helped a lot—I’ve found that sharing how ADHD shows up for me creates space for understanding. It doesn’t solve everything, but it helps reduce shame and defensiveness on both sides. Therapy—both solo and with partners—has been a game-changer.

I've just accepted that Adderall is going to be a part of my life until I exit the workforce. On the plus side, it enables me to stay on top of my work and maintain productivity. On the negative side, it turns me into a bit of a robot that has no time or interest in conversing with my colleagues. I don't care about that as much as I do feeling that same way around my friends and family. I never take it on weekends and have been trying to time my doses better so that it's starting to wear off when I get home.

It’s not an excuse, I still have a ton to work on with the personal and relationship side of things, but I do try to talk about what things make me have a hard time. Many of which wouldn’t be thought of regularly, some I even had to realize were going on. You try to keep doing your best and make your partner know that by showing it too.

My boss assigns projects with unclear expectations and provides no guidance on how to achieve them.

I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".

How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?

How do you get out of the burnout cycle? I’ve felt overwhelmed for a while and now I’m in the “can’t function at all” stage. Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.

I told my boss about my ADHD in confidence because I was looking for a small accommodation (working from home x2 a week). I got it, but now I lowkey feel like she told other people in the office. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid but someone I'm friendly with in HR has been acting weird since Monday, which is when I told my boss. Would she have to tell HR legally? What should I do?

I just started meds yesterday and the change in my focus and attention to detail is mind blowing. My only concern is, just yesterday I had a tough feedback session with my manager around how I’m taking too long to complete my work, giving them anxiety around close deadlines.
