Dude. May and June utilization don't even count for our year end. Nobody's told you that?
No one cares once you're above 92ish.
May be different at EY but having a utilization higher than 100 is a waste of time here. It even looks bad because they worry about you burning out.
I thought >80% is enough, is not it ?
live your life and enjoy the vacation.
Dude - if you're seriously worried about getting your util into the 3 digits and are considering buying vacay for it- and I mean this in the nicest way possible - please consider getting a life
Can confirm it doesn't. Don't lose vacation for utilization. As long as you're above the target utilization, it's fine. No one cares if it gets to > 100%.
90 or 125% util doesn't matter jack for promo if your BD/PD contribution is insignificant. Either way, as EY1 said, your #s are already locked. Nothing you do for April & May will change that.
As EY1 said, may and June don't count for utilization. This is actually mentioned in the email shared with counselors. This is the best time to go on a vacation. As long as you are over your required utilization, it won't have much of an impact on your promotion.
Target it 60-85% depending on level. But when committee discusses promotes, wonder how much weight goes on whether someone was "over 100" vs. "under 100"
Work life balance
For promo, not an issue. You could get a 3 rating and still get promoted. For rating, might be a different story if the only difference between you and your peer group is your utilization. That said, the time to burn vacay would have been April.
*year end
Why don't you just ask? Assuming EY uses some sort of review or talent planning process, just ask someone involved whether you are meeting the utilization benchmark or if they would recommend burning some PTO.
June definitely doesn't count. Depending when your group has roundtables they will pull the most recent utilization. Depending on rank close to 100% effective is great ... unless 25% of your peers are over that!
May and June DO count toward metrics, it's underlined in he email.
