Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte

To answer your first question — transfer pricing is a phenomenal career option as it’s an area that is currently getting significant attention from governments and multinationals. You will get to see a broad range of industries and clients, get to really dig in deep and understand how your clients’ businesses work. You won’t get that opportunity elsewhere in tax
Top graduate schools
Internal TP
In my office all transfer pricing peeps already have a master's or PhD. So grad school not the most usual exit option. I would say either internal TP at large company or move to financial analysis with large company
My office has undergrad, masters, and PhD hires, so I guess it’s a bit different.
In-house TP is the typical exit point. Some stay there; others move from there into operation, supply chain or business planning roles. If you do financial transactions TP, a jump to corporate finance or treasury is pretty common. Equity research and credit risk roles are also common
If you don’t want to do TP for your career, it is best that you leave after 18 to 36 months. At that point, you have been exposed to a wide range of planning work and international structures, but you haven’t pigeonholed yourself. At least this is what finance/accounting recruiters have told me.
@PwC1 I have a master in taxation and am currently an experienced associate in FS tax, do you think I can move into transfer pricing with my background?
Probably if you network. Can you DM me (if that is a thing). One of our partners was looking for people with CPAs.
@pwc2 which office are you in? I’d say it’s possible and depends on (a) current demand, and (b) your ratings
@Deloitte1 I’d say you need a year or two at manager or above to get the kind of grasp and exposure you’re talking about
@pwc1 I disagree. If you are good, you will get this exposure early. It depends on the office, but I am a consultant and already getting staffed on these types of projects.
@Deloitte1 Glad you’re getting that experience. As a senior I thought I had seen all there was to see too. And then I spent more time in TP and boy was I wrong 😃
@pwc1 I am not saying that you don’t see more as a manager (you do). However, I don’t know if it makes sense to stay until manager if you want to be doing something else in finance.
The director I work most with has been very good about having me in on all the calls relevant to my projects, so I have been getting exposure to what happens at a high level. I have heard, however, this is not necessarily the norm.
@PwC 1 I’m in the NYM office.
@Deloitte 1 I don’t think we can DM on this app, I can create a throwaway Gmail account though 👨💻
Sure. Make the gmail and let me know what it is. I’ll email you.
@Deloitte 1, I'm a senior in FS tax too, do I have a shot? I'm not in NYM but can move though.
Yeah, make an email and give me the address.
@Deloitte 1, try this one: fishbowlpwc@mailinator.com, I'll respond with my personal one. Thanks!
@pwc3 shot you an email from my personal account
@Deloitte 1, odd I didn't get anything, I tested it using my own email address it worked fine. Do you mind checking you have it right? Might just leave my real email address here if no go.
