Depends on where you are. I’ve had cleaners all over the country. The cost is mostly driven by location.
$55 is high. I’d say $30-$45 is typical depending on LCOL or HCOL. I paid our housekeeper $110 plus $20 tip to clean our 1900 sq ft 3/2.5 in Atlanta. Took her 3 hours.
Had my home cleaned and it was based on square footage n types of rooms. Paid $260, 2,300 sqft, took a team of 4 people 1.5hrs. LCOL
Where do you live?
…… that’s how much my mom paid in 2007 I think. Based in Michigan.
My apartment in SF usually costs around $150 for two hours

$135 for 2 hours in HCOL. 2,600 sqft
I’m in Philly suburbs, if that helps
She’s charging by job; paying about $160 for about 4-5 hours say 4000sqrt if active space we used. My house is big and clean, so she priced us about 30% lower than some smaller houses of my friends.
I pay 120 cash in Chicago, one woman cleans entire house in 4 hours (not through a service/company. 3 bed 2.5 bath, 2,400sq feet
$55/hour? Geez that’s almost twice the per hour I was making in banking 🤣
