I’ve worked at top regional firms during my 10+ year career. I’m leaving a small book and a solid shot at partner in 3-5 years for the risks of permanent counsel and unknown biglaw bs. Wife and I are prioritizing things other than careers with this move. She’s also able to go fully remote. I’m scared but also excited. Am I crazy?

I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

I’m at a really small firm that recently hired a bunch of ex-Big 4 consultants. Compared to the rest of our mid-senior staff, they treat their associates like shit, delegating all their work downward, and assuming all credit when reporting upward, instead of working collaboratively which is how our firm’s culture used to be. Is this a product of Big 4 culture seeping in? Or am I overly generalizing based on a few bad eggs?

Will taking a project with only adjusted utilization hurt me? If I meet utilization targets for adjusted utilization, but miss it for standard, will that count as not meeting the metric?
