How much does utilization matter your first year? Staffed on a project (hired 4 weeks ago), but I’m not being given 8 hours of work on this project. I want to hit my utilization targets and do well, but realistically there’s only about 4-5 hours of work to do so far.

Hey everyone - I could do with some advice. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am having a hard time getting interview calls. I am trying to pivot from consulting to the industry and targeting project/program management roles. Does anyone feel that the Oil and Gas industry is the most discriminatory industry of all? They won’t even look at resume without O&G experience! It does not make sense to me as I would rather teach someone the specifics of an industry if they were a good fit.
