Should be less than 5k to cover short term liabilities. Everything else should be invested. I've got 4K in checking, 10k in savings acc earning a meager 1.2% for emergencies, and 75k across my IRA, 401k, crypto and taxable brokerage.

Haha. My Consumers Credit Union. There are a few things you have to do every month to get the 4.59% like 12 transactions with your debit card. So I just make 12 back to back small payments to my car insurance once a month. Takes 3 min. And lastly you have to spend $1k per month using their credit card. But even if you don't get a credit card, you'll still get minimum 3.09% return every month. Free to sign up and you don't need a referral or govt ID.

Eh I'll leave maybe $3k in checking and maybe $25k in a high int MMA, invest the rest.

Ey3 where are you from ?

I think about 30k

Can people attach their ages to their figures...

PWC2 I paid off my student loans a few years ago, and bought a condo in 2011-owning saves me money over renting, and I save aggressively per paycheck, increasing my contributions when my salary goes up. I also usually save most of my bonus. I started saving right out of grad school so it's had time to grow.

$8k

I'm not being sarcastic at all.

Math doesn't really check out to me, if you're maxing 401k and buying a house. That or you know a lot of 30 year olds who like to have that much cash

Consulting Manager 1 has around 500k.

Yes I'd say that's ahead, not most people I know. Also, investments may or may not be liquid. 401k isn't either. But if your circle has more affluent people more power to you.

P3 DC

Closer to 400k. Hopefully 500k by mid 30s!

I got a decent deal on a small 1 bed in a luxury building (hell’s kitc). Should I do a 12 month lease or 24m?

Got the rent negotiated to under 3k + free amenities for a year (gym, pool, etc.). I’m afraid rent will atleast go back to the original price (+5%) and then some. The building has some sort of rent control but that’s predicted to go away in less than 1 year as per the lease. The legal rent limit is way higher.

Would love some perspective on renewal experience after 1 year. TIA.

So after you max your investment accounts (401K, IRÁ, emergency savings. etc) what do you do next?

A little context: 24M, started in the pandemic, moved back home and paid off my student loans.

Do I move out? Can I start spending on myself? Am I missing anything from a saving perspective?

Apologies in advance if this comes off entitled/arrogant, really just looking for some advice and wanted to give as clear a picture as possible.
