3-4 weeks a year. Life is too short my friends.
Same, I settle $6-8M a year, I can take 3-4 weeks
2 week vacation plus other time off around holidays/special events. 3-4 weeks total. You have to enjoy your life. Otherwise, why are we even doing this.
I usually take 2 weeks plus holidays every year. Every 2 years I will take about 4 weeks off total to take another longer vacation with family or my spouse. I agree that life is too short. You'll start to resent coming back to work if you don't take enough time for yourself.
I take 2 weeks off every 3 to 4 months.
I try to take long weekends at least every other month, and 1-2 vacations with 3-5 days off throughout the year. The caveat is that I am a trial attorney so I can always make up for those billable hours even with time off. I average 2400+ hours per year even with taking time off to travel.
The thing about taking time off in PI is that you tell yourself if you’re not working, you’re not making money. That’s true, to a point. Schedule your matters so that you can take time off. Calendar vacations so you don’t schedule depositions/trials during those periods. Plan ahead for discovery requests/responses. The key is to control your calendar.
I take one full week, and about one more week in random days. I should take more time off but I feel guilty. I try not to take too much time off.
I get 16 days and I try to take all of them. They don't rollover and life is too short. I don't really care if it bothers anyone if I take more than 2 weeks a year. I usually do one big trip and then smaller trips. Plan to take 6 days of PTO in the fall (10 day trip with weekends). Then will take 3-4 days for a spring/summer trip to space it out. And then use the rest for very small trips and holidays.
Several weeks and most weekends, some random days if I don’t have anything calendared
