Is 400k the new 100k?
My wife started as an M at Accenture earlier this year coming from industry. I’ve never worked at Accenture or any b4, but I had to explain to her how up or out works. She also didn’t know that she came in with 24 months at level and what that meant. Really surprised none of this was communicated during hiring or by her manager.

No idea but Dallas cost of living is so low It’d easily be 2xs as much in NYC. Not sure how much it’d cost to live in San Francisco International Airport though, that’s probably be 100xs higher, goodluck!
I think it’s because some cites main attraction is the airport....
Equivalent to 130-140
NYC/San Fran maybe $110-115, Chicago probably same?

Just rent will push your cost of living way beyond the 10-15% others have suggested.
I have lived in NYC downtown, SF downtown, and Dallas uptown (cheaper than downtown but relatively expensive). I paid about $3,500/mo in NYC for a 1br, same in SF, and now pay $1600 for a 3Br,2Ba,+2garage. Just those $2K post-tax per month are $24K yearly. At $100K salary, just rent would push me ~25% higher. Add cost of groceries, restaurants, gas etc and it’s way more. If you have children then it’s a whole different ball game - now you’re talking about another $1-2K/month more just for a nanny or daycare.
Totally forgot about that. Not paying state income tax is huge. I guess property taxes are higher but I don’t think it’s nearly close to parity

180K in SF, 166k in brooklyn, and 110 in chicago
There’s a reason Dallas is so cheap. 10/10 do not recommend
Austin, TX is where it’s at!
Move to Austin, TX
I think I misunderstood the question — cost of living is unquestionably higher in NYC by considerably more than 10-15%. However, the salary you can command in those cities is probably only 10-15% higher
