How seriously would you say you invest for the future? What advice would you give someone who doesn't invest much for their future?

A lot. I'm not a baby boomer, and I'm not a gez Z living the YOLO life here. I understand SS is gonna be drained by the time I'm 50, never mind 65. I have been living well below my means and have been contributing at least 50% or more towards savings and retirement/investments. That doesn't mean i don't go on vacations and live like a hermit, but I don't waste money on junk 24/7 like lots do.

Now that I am getting a little older, preparing for the future is becoming something I am thinking a lot about. I don’t want to wait and live my life in retirement, I want to live it now, however I also want to have a roof over my head and not starve when I’m retired either. Trying to find the middle ground in that.

I invest a decent amount, though I’m still focused on paying off my current debt. I’m starting now so that my investments have a long time to sit while I work on running my debt down before increasing investments.

I’m not bad with money but definitely lots of room to improve overall, due to several personal factors I don’t want to list in full here (numerous unanticipated medical bills, bad boyfriends, etc.) Hence why I only have $3k in savings right now. My first mini goal is to have $5k saved by the end of December. I need motivation and words of encouragement. If I pay off my medical bills, I won’t make my goal. I have to start putting saving money first. Getting depressed about my situation.

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?
