At my agency, no one gets promoted, so it’s a career dead end. You either leave or you’re stuck
They've got their business and I've got mine. If I can get a 50% jump by moving every 2 years, why would I stay for 10% a year? The only catch is you have to be good.
The industry has removed benefits like pensions and things that rewarded longevity in a company. There is no upside to being loyal to one employer anymore.
Getting an offer from another agency is the only real way to get deserved raises, and it’s a much easier way to get promotions. You can take the offer and jump ship or you can take it to your current agency and see if they’ll counter, but if you just do your best and wait to be rewarded you’ll get a 5k raise for the 25k one waiting outside.
I jumped after 3.5 then 2 then 2 again and went from 32 to 97 in that time. Soooo money and probably title too. I interview decently though...

Once you’re part of your agency’s machine, they don’t need to entice you in, so they stop trying, while others try and entice you in.
The holding companies have undone themselves.
No real growth opportunities
Promotions aren’t valuable enough.
Definitely not a trend. It’s the only way to have career growth.
