Cheeseburger no bun extra bacon
Big inhale of air, soak in the nutrients.
pwc1, why do you say no dressing? The whole point of keto is to have the dressing (as long as it's fat and not carbs)
Carton of heavy whipping cream
Been on Keto for the past year. Also traveled 90% of that time. Found it pretty easy. Normally do IM fasting so skip breakfast— but eggs, cheese, nuts, bacon, sausage etc are all readily available for breakfast. Lunch/Dinner I usually eat some combination of salad with ranch, meat, veggies, cheese. Tons of possibilities for types of cuisine — just actively avoid the sneaky sugar and starches that abound in most meals. Snacks— almonds, peanuts, pork rinds, cheese, jerky, etc
Do you also workout? If so, what’s your workout routine like? I am curious to try keto and wondering how well it pairs with CrossFit
Yes I run every day and lift every other day
Honestly losing weight and drinking don’t mix. But if you’re very disciplined it’s possible. When I’m trying to maintain I usually adhere to the 4:3 rule. I eat super healthy 4 days a week. Then Friday dinner, Saturday, and Sunday for lunch I eat whatever I want.
cocktails are a no-go but pure alc shots/on the rocks is fine. alcohol does slow down ketosis but it won’t kick you out of it like a slice of cake would
One word of advice: if you’re thinking of starting keto for first time, be aware that the brain-fog can be pretty bad first time until your body switches over. Don’t start a couple days before a big presentation
Steak salad no dressing
Salads with olive oil dressing
Grilled salmon
Salads...whole lot of salads.
What about going out and drinking?
if you want to be really strict about keto, i found it to be pretty difficult while traveling mostly because keto requires foods to be cooked with grass fed butter, ghee, olive oil, etc. whereas most restaurants use canola (not ok on keto). When I was local tho, i would meal prep on sundays and everyone would drool at my lemon butter salmon, bacon beef cheese bombs, etc. You can’t just eat pure salads because it’s not enough fat (even with a ton of olive-oil based ranch dressing).
