I am a foreign trained attorney, licensed in NY. I’ve been working as an immigration lawyer for 4 years , trying to switch to a different practice area for a very long time now. I’m getting paid a below average salary. Since I am not able switch practice areas; I thought I’d try landing a job at a bigger law firm with immig practice. Despite 4 years of exp, I don’t even get interview calls from big law. Is it cuz I only have an LLM? I am so dejected, idk I think I shd give up being an attorney.

I have been offered 120K by EY Canada for Manager role in Supply Chain Consulting team. I have total 9.5 YoE and in Supply Chain domain. Is it a fair offer? I am employed with EY India for past 3.5 years and being offered the same level at Canada.

Have you ever been told off by an older attorney of color? We have one Black partner at our firm and in conversation with him this morning he told me I should work on sounding and looking "more professional" and not let my "tone" or "bad attitude" get in the way. I don't think I've ever had a bad attitude at work, and whatever "tone" I'm speaking in it's my normal one. As a Black woman I just feel super weird about it and kind of sad.
