In hand salary?

Any one familiar with comp for a Portfolio Associate roll at PIMCO on their mortgage backed securities team? I’m looking at an offer and want make sure I’m in line with the average comp for the company and industry. Only 4 months of experience and offer is 98k w/ 10-20% bonus plus 15k relo/ sign on. Looking at Glassdoor, bonuses seem higher than quoted by the hiring manager. (No written offer yet they say they’re still working on it)

You could go to the SEC and then jump to another firm in that role in a few years if you’re interested at all in the SEC. they might actually pay better than your firm.

I second trying to go to a government organization. Depending on your resume you may be able to latch onto a big firm doing regulatory-type stuff, but that is a long shot as there’s quite a bit working against you. Mainly: (1) firms generally don’t like retooling litigators; (2) litigation and regulatory/compliance in securities has less overlap than, say, IP; and (3) it is more difficult for a number of reasons to jump from plaintiffs’ firms, even top ones, to biglaw than vice versa (and this is assuming you have biglaw credentials to start with).
Thanks everyone. I’m in the process of applying to the SEC, but am cognizant of how difficult landing those spots are. OTOH, I did come from a Wall Street law firm and am familiar with SEC investigations. I have applied to biglaw shops for sec reg positions and have only heard back from one post interview and I was dinged, likely for the reasons Attorney 1 mentioned.
Have you considered a broker-dealer / sec reg practice?
Fwiw many positions in the SEC are just more litigation (or investigations), just not on the billable hour. And you will be expected to operate with at least mid-level experience because they're leanly staffed. Just be mindful of which positions you're looking at if you're not sure about lit.
