From your job description, currently, your role is more suited for a Py developer than a data scientist. If you do want to switch to a DS role, it's better to start looking for relevant roles in your current org as it'd be comparatively easier than convincing other orgs of your relevant DS skills with no prior experience (correct me if I'm wrong on the relevant work exp.)
If you want to acquire DS skills, I'd suggest start with the Analyst certification programs from Google and other available data science courses. You can also take up projects from Kaggle and that should help with hands on experience.
However, it's important to understand the working principle of the algorithms and stats as that'd eventually help you become a better DS down the line and a proper interviewer can always judge those skills if you don't have relevant work exp. Apologies if this was too preachy.
It is not preachy thanks🙂
