I am starting to play a put credit spread strategy consisting of:

- Filter for strong stocks (good fundamentals, good technicals and breaking out or in upward trend) in strong sectors
- Then, select the ones with high IV
- After the stocks are selected, place put credit spreads below prev. support, considering Prob. Of Profit, reward/risk

So far is working well, but I wanted to ask the bowl if I may be missing something to make it even more solid

This is a well documented solid strategy. Only additional checks is to look at the bid/ask spreads to make sure it's liquid, and to check how close you are to earnings. IV often rises as earnings approach.

Thank you so much! Indeed, I am almost 100% profit in a credit spread but I cannot get out because bid-ask is too wide so I’ll let it expire now. Would you trade maybe with lower DTE contracts to ensure higher liquidity? Or would you focus on the underlying volume?

I'm a young professional finishing my first year of my career. Last month I opened a brokerage account & invested $4000 in the stock market. Feeling grateful & proud as I reached my goal ($50K by 25) 5 months early. But I can’t help feeling a bit overwhelmed. In the lifelong scheme of things, $50K doesn’t seem like much. I worked really hard and sacrificed a lot (including mental health) to get to this but it seems a little tiring knowing I still have so long to go. I recently moved out and in with my BF so my expenses are split, but nonetheless they are still expenses. Any tips on continuing this journey and keeping the drive?

Need advice. Have some credit card debt that I’ve been working to pay off. Have made progress but want to lower it quickly. We have dual income, with a house (~$300k in equity), 1 kid and 1 on the way. I’ve looked into debt consolidation via HELOC but also have ~$80k in vested equity in my company that I haven’t touched. Get equity refreshes every year. Would it be smarter to cash out $15k-$20k of that to pay debt vs. a HELOC at ~5% given that will still require mthly payments

I have a LOT of credit card debt. It has just grown over time and I can’t find my way out. I’m considering debt consolidation, specifically a company called National Debt Relief which seems legit but I’m just so hesitant because I’m scared to make my situation worse. Or a personal loan to pay off all the CC debt and then have a smaller all in one payment. I’m intelligent and I work in finance, it’s so embarrassing. HELP.

Would love to get insight from folks here as I’m not quite sure what to do. I currently have around 14K in student loan debt and enough saved up to pay it off in one fell swoop. What I’m struggling with is whether I should invest that money into the stock market (thinking less risky S&P 500 ETF) and pay off my student loans monthly with the average payment being around 1000 so I can pay it off in about 16-18 months (due to interest being around 5%) or pay it off all in one go?

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Long time in the making; but we finally sold off from our 50% HWB short. We had two tests at the 3400 level, getting as high as 3420 today before the sell off. Momentum and pessimism over lack of stimulus could take us to the 3107 target quickly, nearly a 10 percent decline over the next month. Stay short my friends. It's going to get bumpy.
