Yes, go to the second interview. Sounds like a better match overall for you. There’s no guarantee you’d get an offer anyway, and you don’t want to sacrifice what could be a great opportunity.
What line of work is the in house opportunity in? It sounds like a better deal but it’s a good idea to do due diligence - I haven’t heard of many in house opportunities requiring billables. Maybe cross post in the in house bowl? I’ve heard ID is miserable but I have no personal experience regarding it.
Why does the in-house position have billables? I’d be concerned about this. What do they consider “billable”? I’m in house and half of my day (at a minimum) is administrative or non-legal work.
I was told your hours are “tracked” so administrative and legal matters combined would technically be the “billable” requirement
This is a red flag for me, but I would still continue with the interview process and get more information.
The in house position is premises liability/ construction matters. Mostly the same work at the ID firm. My biggest concern is accepting an offer, giving them a start date and then going somewhere else
