It hasn't been for a long time. Every entry level post I saw when I was starting my career wanted experience no truly entry level employee would have. I don't think companies actually want entry level employees. They want to play experienced employees entry level wages.
This is what I was seeing when I was first starting out. It made it very difficult.
I read something once that the financial crisis pretty much killed the truly entry level job. People were so desperate for roles they took things below them. And that's now why it seems any "entry level" job is requiring at least 2 years of experience.
