Huh? Employers don’t offer IRAs (hence INDIVIDUAL retirement account - IRA). You have to go through a broker like Fidelity

Do you mean 401k? Because an IRA is separate from your employer. Also, contributing pre-tax means withdrawals will be taxed. You’re not paying taxes now and will pay later. Contributing post-tax means your withdrawals will not be taxed. So you’re paying taxes now and won’t later. (Assuming you meet age requirements).
