Hi all, I just finished my recruiter phone interview today for “Risk Prevention Escalations Specialist, Global Risk Operations” role and it went well. I have an interview on Friday with the hiring manager. Does anyone know what kind of questions they’ll be asking? I only have 2 days to prep..

“Normal” for me was pretty miserable. I agree with much of your sentiment (traveling, being able to see family more, etc) but I just cannot go back to commuting 3+ hours per day/5 days a week
The wfh mandate the pandemic created was a blessing for my mental and physical health, and i just can’t go back to how things were (work/office wise)
OP, that’s definitely something I see being a major possibility. Seems like this pandemic has opened many eyes to the fact that maybe we don’t need to all be together 5 days a week in order to get our work done
I kind of feel that there has to be a new normal.
I feel so bad for the kids who are missing key socialization milestones. I feel so badly for kids who counted on school meals for food (like I did growing up). I think there needs to be a real effort once social workers are immunized to ramp up the follow ups on children to get resources and help so they can ramp up to a reasonable baseline and help somewhat undo what is likely going to be long term developmental delays.
Completely agree. Hopefully schools will think of ways to get things back on track when they eventually return. I already brought it up to our school administration.
Be patient, and take solace in the fact that you are likely much better off than millions of others who have been impacted by COVID.
Things will get better within this year. Hang in there.
I am grateful and thankful that I am in a much better position than most. Still miss my family and ache for my kids childhood. But thank you for reminding me to look at the bright side.
I was just thinking about this the other day, kids will miss out on all the extra chatter that comes with in person learning. No more gossiping in the hallways, no making inside jokes in class.
My now 1st grader tells me he hates school because it's so boring and all they do is sit. I hope every child overcomes this year.
Don’t we all.
It’s going to mess up a lot of kids. All I’ve got is: do what you can to normalize things for them within your risk tolerance.
I add that I volunteer coach xc skiing for 7-10 year olds. We moved forward this year with significant modifications on the advice of an infectious disease doctor. We had our first practice last week. I have a lot of the same kids as last year. They were thrilled to be there despite that we can’t play “games” like tag. That said, they seem like really different kids from last year and it makes me really really sad. And these are the kids from significant advantage.... it’s actually frightening to think about those who have it much rougher.
