That IS a big deal. I’d talk to a trusted mentor.

Been there and decided not to say anything for a long time because I didn’t want to rock any boats or piss anyone off but only made me continuously more and more unhappy. Eventually I started networking with other teams and people I’d heard good things about, telling them I was interested in joining them and they helped fight to pull me into their projects instead

I’m going through the same thing. I’m trying to switch onto a different team (I’m on a larger engagement with several process area teams) and trying how to do it tactfully

I went through this, successfully transferred to another team after a year, and ended up on a team with a senior manager with the same attitude but worse. I don’t think I’m trying again...

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

Might be the wrong bowl but finding it extremely difficult to focus on work post busy season. It’s been 2 weeks since we filed and I’m still taking lots of naps and breaks (I’m talking like 3-4 cumulative hrs worked during the day). Idk if I’m taking longer to recover from busy season bc I’m getting old or if I’m over public accounting (but then where do i go). Tried to schedule time with a therapist but everyone has a months-long waitlist so next step might be trying to find a life/career coach

My sister and I have recently both come to the realization that our parents guilt us into spending time with them or visiting them and the guilt causes us both to shut down. Our dad is the main offender, often reminding us how little time we have left with him, asking us why we’re leaving so soon or reminding us about all the good deeds and sacrifices made. We’ve both noticed this shift in our relationship with our parents after graduating from college and starting our own adult lives. Continued
