I feel like I've stalled out and could use some advice. First, I'm in my 30s with a master's in accounting and working on my CPA. I did a year as an audit associate at one firm and recently moved to a new firm as a consultant. I know I'm underpaid for the experience and I'm worried I inadvertently took myself off the accounting track.

Long story short, I'm weighing a jump to B4 but don't know if it's foolhardy to jump without first getting the CPA.

Get your CPA first. Then consider if big 4 is necessary.

Im almost in the same boat. Im in my early 30’s. Didnt pass the cpa exam. Worked at big 4 for a year and realized it wasnt for me. I am now switching into a finance role and im pretty excited for it. Do you not like consulting? Maybe ask the firm if you can do something else there or look elsewhere for another job that YOU think is interesting. You have some experience so you should be able to pivot into something else if you want to!

I'm in the same boat as well. Before it's too late, I've decided to go for Big 4 so I've applied and got in (luckily..). I do not have CPA yet (still working on it). I've heard you can get hired once you get CPA designation but you may be underpaid due to the lack of public practice experiences so I'd rather get underpaid now than once I'm a CPA..(I didn't have to take much salary cut btw) shoot me dm if you want the details but I'd say go for it if you know you will say i shoudve tried a public practice later on:)

My group is planning to get rid of a handful of folks that are senior associates without a CPA (meaning they’re not eligible for Manager promotion). Food for thought

I am in the process of finding administrative assistant interns from our local universities. In an effort to make my job opportunity appealing, I am asking everyone in this bowl about an appropriate job title. Is "Administrative Assistant" outdated or unappealing? I certainly don't want to mislead anyone on the job responsibilities, but I do want to avoid any potential negative stereotypes attached to that job title. Are there alternative titles that you find more appropriate for 2022?

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
