I got fired from my job a month ago and had to remove it from my LinkedIn because my tenure in that company was just 2 months. It was a horrible job so I'm glad I no longer have to work there, but one of my coworkers from my job before that (1.5 yrs tenure) keeps stalking my LinkedIn. I see him check my profile almost every day and I'm wondering if I should just message him and tell him how I got fired to finally release him from needing to look me up and search for answers.

Shut off your LinkedIn. Don't need to message your ex co. Turn it back on once you find a new job. If recruiters ask about your LinkedIn, tell them you're updating it therefore it's shutoff.

like

I'd call him out on it and put the ball in his court..."I see you've been looking at my profile AGAIN... What's up?"

like

Have you checked his profile?

There have been a few times where former colleagues were repeatedly viewing my profile. So I went to view their profile. And realized they were copying my content onto their page! I was furious. But felt like there wasn’t anything I could do about it. 😔 Next time I refresh my LI, I think I’ll put less detail out there so I’m less upset when people take it as their own.

Sharing that to say there could be other reasons he keeps viewing. If you do want to reach out, maybe keep it neutral and say Hi, I was just thinking of that project we worked on together, how are you… etc.

like

Just block him!

I do not use LinkedIn. I am convinced it is a haven for stalking, and the way ID theft is prevalent today sites like that one should only be open to recruiters to see your profile if they can pass security checks proving what they’re looking at your profile for.

Can you block him?

I am so tired of being treated like an assistant and I’m at a loss on how to correct it. My coworkers are generally nice, but while I watch white (usually male) associates at my level or even more junior get substantive work, I’m still receiving administrative tasks as a mid-level. Appreciate any advice.

I started a new job as an “office manager” at the end of January. The duties seem to align more with those of an EA, and I’m ok with that. Except my boss is a control freak. He scolds me over every little thing, how I load the dishwasher, maybe I didn’t push my chair in. Last week he told me I needed to work on my appearance. I was shocked. I bought all new clothes from Ann Taylor that are perfectly acceptable for business casual. He hates me. Move on ASAP or try to stick it out ?

I recently took a job with a top tier investment manager, which is a step up in title and responsibilities. I went through the typical “notice” conversations with my current employer. My boss, who was a significant supporter and mentor of me during my time at my current firm, told me that he doesn’t think my new firm is “long term” for me. Anyone ever get something like this before? It threw me off because I was hoping for his support, understanding that it’s tough for him temporarily

Hi all,

My boss makes jokes about me being from a different country whenever there is a work meeting or a gathering with coworkers, even though he knows where I am from. This usually occurs when I meet new work-related people or for example if I am in a situation that involves ethnic related subjects.

What is this? This is normal?

Stereotyping?
Racism?

The first time I ignored that, but now it has become a pattern and is bothering me now. I am south-American working in the UK.

Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. Of course I can just say “I’m gonna go write.” But since we’re both CD level, I’m like…is this his first rodeo? Maybe other writers are different though.

A HR question I really want to understand. ISRS HR quoted a podcast "The not so great resignation" saying 70% regret leaving and many want to go back to old employer. If this really the case the employee likely left due to higher pay at the new company. If they want to boomerang back they will likely come back at even a higher rate than they left the new company for. So getting double raise when they boomeranged. Isn't it unbeneficial, why not just give employee a 7% raise in the first place?
