I'm sorry to hear this. I definitely feel very overwhelmed and like I'm letting my students and myself down sometimes too. It helps to remember I'm trying my best and usually am expecting too much from myself, in a way that nobody else is being more critical of me than me. I'm pretty close to other teachers in my department, so they are usually a great source of support since we're really all on the same boat. Outside of school though I also see a counselor, which really helps me. I recommend to everyone, just wonderful to have someone to chat with who will help you navigate all the mean things our brains tell us sometimes!
I can empathize! I feel that this year, more than any other, I am constantly trying to address behavior and communication skills. From my experience, most students are reasonably good through August, but when September comes, they start the testing boundaries pushback. Yet, this year it has been never-ending, and instead of a few students, there are many doing this. I ask myself, "Is it me?" "Is this because of months of COVID related E-Learning?" "Is it the new norm?" Sadly, the grades are much lower too.
