I have a bachelor's degree in accounting. I've been working out of school for 2 years in private. I work 40-60 hours around month end. All my higher-ups with MBAs & CPAs work 40-60 hours.

My brother has a batchlors in software engineer and works 40 hours max. Has work from home options and makes 4x my salary.

I don't want to be in my 30s making 120k-200k and slaving my life away.

Any advice on knowledge/schooling should I persue to switch fields into something more financially rewarding?

Yup, you don’t work smarter and get paid for it, just work harder. Maybe AI will really help this field. At this point, I’d love to tell my spouse the AI made us all redundant

Find a better company. I’m an internal auditor making about 165k and actual hours of work spent/week are max 20-30/week on average. I was also a high performer when I was in public accounting, so it could be a skills thing.

Is your problem with the hours or the salary? What’s wrong with 120-200k if you are working 40 hours?

The IT market by itself has 5% unemployment right now. I just got let go a few weeks ago. I'm hearing of cases like me that have been unemployed from 6-8 months up to 6 YEARS.

Wait for the market to improve and then start looking.

I agree with you. There's a lot of layoffs. Especially because outsourcing has significantly increased.
I currently don't have any background in IT or software.
Do you have any suggestions on things I should learn and be well equipped with when the market does get better?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

I started working as a consultant with EY 8 months ago. Even though I'm content and learning a lot there, I think there are places where I might easily earn more money. I received a job offer last week from Alvarez & Marsal to work as a consultant at the Transaction Advisory Department (financial due diligence team), where I will be paid more fairly (salary & bonus). Should I accept it? Or would leaving EY that early not be wise?

My manager basically gave me an unlimited budget to get whatever certifications I want. My career profile is similar to a Solution Architect- what should I get? I am thinking about Okta (I do some SAML work), Domo, ITIL, Six Sigma, Certified Scrum Product Owner, Six Sigma, anything else? I have AWS Cloud Practitioner already. I am hoping to pivot to Product Management or Data Science.

Hello fellow SAP Consultants!
I am SAP HCM consultant having 4.10 years of experience. I feel that this module doesn’t have any growth. My first switch took me to 9LPA from 6LPA and now the second switch is being offered for 11.5LPA where I can see my fellow friends in SAP having more than 15LPA at the same experience on their second switch itself. Should I be worried about my skillset? Any insights would highly be appreciated. I feel stuck.
