Yup, you don’t work smarter and get paid for it, just work harder. Maybe AI will really help this field. At this point, I’d love to tell my spouse the AI made us all redundant
Find a better company. I’m an internal auditor making about 165k and actual hours of work spent/week are max 20-30/week on average. I was also a high performer when I was in public accounting, so it could be a skills thing.

We need to unionize and all do a nationwide walkout just like what the nurses did. Now they make bank and we don’t.

Is your problem with the hours or the salary? What’s wrong with 120-200k if you are working 40 hours?
The IT market by itself has 5% unemployment right now. I just got let go a few weeks ago. I'm hearing of cases like me that have been unemployed from 6-8 months up to 6 YEARS.
Wait for the market to improve and then start looking.
I agree with you. There's a lot of layoffs. Especially because outsourcing has significantly increased.
I currently don't have any background in IT or software.
Do you have any suggestions on things I should learn and be well equipped with when the market does get better?
