If she needs to be at work at 7 she definitely can’t drop him off at 7. I think picking him up later is a good compromise but I don’t think I would charge more. The only other option is she drops him off earlier which doesn’t work for you.
It sounds like she’s unstable and gaslighting you. I would definitely not watch the dog anymore. I just don’t want anything to do with someone like that.
Some people are soo crazy lol. Unless it’s a puppy, they really don’t need someone there 24/7. My dog is 11 and very laid back. I leave her alone for 6 hours and she’s fine. I have a furbo camera anytime I need to check in on her and it also throws treats lol. I also only work like 10 minutes away from home so can easily get back if needed. Even with my work schedule, I’m able to walk her 3 times a day (morning, right after work, and right before bed). As long as this girl can develop a routine around her work schedule she will be fine. I only get a walker or a sitter when I’m away from home for long periods of time.
She has to be at work at 7am.
She’s probably wigging out from stress, too, since she’s a resident.
I wouldn’t charge more but I’d also never watch this dog again. She’s pretty unreasonable.
Nope Don't feel bad she's the one who's going to regret it.Because she's not gonna find anybody cheaper than that.
When I pushed back on this, she gave me a lot of attitude and was freaking out which made me not want to help her even more. However, I wasn’t going to flake on her, I was just baffled that she wants me to wake up at 5:15am everyday and didn’t think that would be an inconvenience for me. She later apologized for lashing out, but now we came to an agreement that I’ll just pick up her dog around 8am instead and watch him till 7pm.
However, now I feel like I should charge her more for this inconvenience of having to pick up her dog from her home (about 10 min away). Should I charge her more?
A little of background context, I was willing to watch her dog for so little because her dog gets along well with mine.
I wouldn’t charge my friend to watch their dog. It’s a thing friends do. Not a business decision.
Yeah I agree with you that I could’ve given more advance notice to her! She still has two weeks before I would’ve started dogsitting for her so I think this is plenty of time to find other help. I would’ve given her more advance notice but assumed that she was dropping her dog off later vs earlier so I think that both of us are at fault here for not making sure things were crystal clear in terms of drop off times. However, she got really upset after I raised it to $40 even though she’s told me several times that she’s willing to pay me whatever I want which is another reason why I felt comfortable asking for more.
Regardless, she shouldn’t have been disrespectful towards me with her response: Cool well you’re not getting 1000$ per rotation because Max and I will be on the street to pay you what you’re asking now all of a sudden since it’s about the money, so no there is no understanding. Max will be alone 13 hours a day now. Thanks.
This just isn’t going to work out given she’s been sending me texts like this when I’ve been trying to communicate nicely towards her.
Can’t relate, I watch people’s dogs for free if they’re my friends.
I’ve also fostered dogs for probably 2 years straight so 24 hours a day, constantly. You’re clearly just not cut out to watch a dog if you’re not getting something in return.
