You could most likely switch internally at PWC with a CISSP. Anywhere else will be tough to get manager level since you’ve never delivered anything technical

likesmart

Get the cert, get some experience within PwC on some cyber IA or controls-based cyber engagements, then make the jump either internally or to another firm in a cyber-specific role. You could probably maintain your manager role and increase comp.

Following. I’m also thinking of doing the same. However, I’ve already switched over to Cyber from IT Audit with only a CISA cert

guess we’re never getting those answers

You would have to start over as a first year senior or an experienced analyst

The truth is that anything higher than first year senior is a long term diservice to you.

The reason being that a manager has to be able to analyze complex tech problems, weigh conflicting risks, prioritize risks and demonstrate to the clients technical staff that you are worth following.

I woke say - take the three year career reset - learn security really well and you will be well positioned to be successful in the long run / post your consulting career

like

You can switch over and do Cybersecurity Risk Assessments

My remit quadrupled+ in a recent re-org with no increase in pay/promotion, my new director is new to the company and was zero help, and I was passed over for recent promotion during the comp cycle. The new director essentially began shutting me down any time I ask for clarity in my career progression. Now they have taken credit for the project I’ve been building over the past year+ without giving me props whatsoever to higher ups. What is the best plan of action here?

I work as a Business Development Manager at a sports club.. I’ve been given a couple of months “trial” in the 6 figure and above sales in which I don’t see going back to my other role on lower sales. This was a somewhat good move for me until I consider missing out on commission each month that was more than my salary. (£25k salary, over £2k per month commission)
How do I go about raising this concern? I believe I should be paid more now and at least change my job title?

Hello, I’m an associate (almost at the one year mark) at a midsize firm on the EPL team. I did about 2 years of employment law as a clerk during school and know that’s what I want to go into. I’ve asked for more EPL work but keep catching PI cases. I second-chaired an employment trial but don’t see any EPL work for the foreseeable future and wasn’t getting as much EPL exposure as I wanted before the trial. Any advice on a lateral move to a bigger firm with a broader range of EPL work?

Fellow introverts...can I only advance in my career if I take on a leadership role? The thought of this terrifies me. My current boss hasn't exactly given me the confidence that would reassure me that I'm leadership material. He constantly questions my design choices, which I'm able to defend. It doesn't help that he always presents outdated ideas and throws UX out the window. I know that I know my stuff and keep up with best practices. I have 4+ years experience but am treated as entry level.
