What level are you at now? I personally don't believe that 13% is worth leaving, especially without a 401k match. I think our gut reactions are usually pretty solid. That kind of language, especially in an actual interview (as opposed to a job description/posting), is a bit off-putting to me, but it could also just be them trying to make an accounting position more interesting than it actually is.
This private company does not seem chill. Seems like fire drills are frequent. Avoid at all costs, esp when the raise is 13%. Wait for a better F500 role. Trust your gut about the red flags because I’ve been in this situation before where they just flat out lied about the turnover, problems, etc.
Keep looking for something more solid. Try not to be desperate and just take a job because they’re interested in you. You have goals…try to find something that is going to align with them.

If you’re going to a pre-IPO company, you should be getting equity compensation. For 13% and no equity it’s not worth it.
I can take that two ways:
1) Existing employees are being very resistant to change or;
2) The place is a circus and I’ll never have 40 hour weeks or the coveted slow time.
The CAO does seem genuinely interested in making changes to get them to IPO land one day so at least efforts to increase efficiency and develop controls probably won’t be met with too much resistance from the top.
Does anyone have any experience they’d like to share about switching to an environment such as this??
I’m looking at it as a 3 year gig where I can add control/efficiency implementation to my resume and make my way to either an IA Director position or Controller.
Also for reference, I’m burned the eff out at Big 4 rolling from 1 busy season to the next but I also don’t want to be too pigeon holed in my next job or get too bored. But also not wanting to keep up the pace where I am now. I literally haven’t spoken to my family in 2 weeks.
